The 'one room thick' upstairs bedroom layout used in F-1728 is truly a country method of old south architecture. A shed roof covers the 8-foot porch on the front and covers the kitchen and dining room on the rear. The two bedrooms upstairs are joined by a bath. An alternate plan which extends out over the kitchen adds a master private bath with the separate shower and tub. Downstairs the living room is open to the entry by columns and a rail. The step down is an option and can be left out. The mud area holds space for washer & dryer, sewing or desk and built-in ironing board. The wide counter in the kitchen provides bar space for stools. Also, built-in ovens and separate cook top make this a special kitchen. By adding a 6 foot area between garage and main house you can create a larger utility room, pantry and breakfast area. The downstairs bedroom can become that much needed office or study with outside entry. This alternate is also included with the Standard Plan F-1728.
